Painting eggs during Easter is a custom originating from the folk culture of various areas of the world. Today this tradition is commonly known and colorful eggs have lost their direct relation to religion – it is rather an item used for decorative purposes that is associated with Easter. Art in general originates from sacred customs – dance, sculpture and painting have their roots in rituals and ceremonies. In the course of time all kinds of art have gone through a similar way of evolution and today pieces of art have only a metaphorical meaning, they are not directly related to the sacrum element.
