An idyllic island of Koh Samui with the statue of Big Buddha and amazing rock formations called Hinta and Hinya (Grandmother and Grandfather) is located in the Gulf of Thailand. The island is a big tourist attraction and several hundred hotels that are situated there and large, clean beaches provide tourists with comfortable leisure. Koh Samui is also known for its coconut palms that used to be the main source of income of the island’s residents. Today the coconuts that come from these areas are considered to be the tastiest in Thailand and visitors may see the palms literally all over the island. The island has two main beaches: the biggest one is called Chaweng and slightly smaller – Lamai, the latter one is less crowded. The rest on a quiet beach will be even nicer as there are clean, fine sand as well as the view of rocks and stones majestically emerging from water.
