Bottlenose is the most common and widespread species of dolphin in the world. Comparing with the entire whale family, it is an exceptional creature because it is the only one able to adapt to human activity and even benefit from it, for example catching fish escaping from the fishing nets. In some Australian bays, where tourist cruises are organized to observe these aquatic mammals, dolphins approach tourists, allow themselves to be petted and fed. They also tolerate life in captivity very well – they learn a lot of tricks, bond with a guardian, they even seem to enjoy the pleasure of contacting with a human being.
