Štrbské pleso, a mountainous lake of glacial origin covering an area of less than 20 hectares, is located at an altitude of 1346 meters above sea level in the Slovak High Tatras. The lake is surrounded by forests and dwarf mountain pine clusters. As early as in the 19th century the lake was artificially stocked, it also has its own marina for boats. Numerous hotels and sanatoria are located nearby. Several tourist routes lead to Štrbské pleso and guests of the surrounding holiday and spa centers stroll along the shore.
