Palace Gardens at the former summer residence of the House of Wittelsbach in Munich is an example of an orderly Baroque garden, which has been transformed into a landscape park with a look similar to natural forests and meadows. The park was founded at the beginning of the 18th century as a French-style garden, in which the symmetrical division of space, as well as careful selection of vegetation and small garden architecture were dominant. After a hundred years, however, it was reorganized in a spirit that refers to solutions imitating nature. A regular French garden has been preserved, which flows smoothly into a landscape park, where the regular layout of alleys, canals and small ponds has been abandoned in favor of lush vegetation and winding paths.
