The High Tatras is the highest fragment of the Tatra Mountains located in Poland and Slovakia. The range is adorned by post-glacial bodies of water, usually tarns and moraine-dammed lakes. Most of the Tatra lakes are fed by rainfall, meltwater and underground springs. The largest mountain lakes on the Slovak side of the Tatras are Veľké Hincovo Pleso and Strbske Pleso. Zbojnícke plesa– the lakes located in the Veľká Studená Valley – are also popular among tourists. You can admire them while hiking along the blue trail between the Cold Water and Rohatka Falls.
