Lofoten is a group of mountainous islands off the coast of Norway. Inhabitants of the archipelago are still largely dependent on fishing and cod processing. Stunning landscapes, dominated by rocky massifs that are cut by narrow bays, make the Lofoten an attractive destination for tourists and sailors. Picturesque fjords can be admired not only from the yacht deck, but also during a canoe trip. People willing to enjoy real life in the north for a few weeks rent traditional wooden houses built on stilts and they spend several hours a day hiking in the mountainous areas of islands that are connected by bridges.
