Kauai Island is one of the islands belonging to the Hawaii Archipelago. The island covers the area of 1.4 thousand km2 and there are 60 thousand inhabitants. Kauai is a volcanic island. Valleys and hills on the coasts, which take the form of cliffs are predominant elements of the Kauai natural landscape. The landscape of the island is shaped also by its inhabitants, mostly by creating the system of arable fields.
