In the traditional Andean music wind instruments, namely flutes and pipes, are the leading ones. Quena is a kind of flute that comes from Peru. The instrument had been originally made by the Incas from llama bones, which was later replaced by bamboo with drilled holes. Pipes are other popular Peruvian musical instruments, they consist of a few rows of reeds. Ethnic instruments from South America tend to be ornately-carved or painted in vivid colors. They are sold at markets and fairs as a souvenir.
