Two hundred years ago, the color of clothes spoke a lot about the social and economic status of the person who wore it. Extravagant colors were reserved for the richest layers of society, as obtaining appropriate dyes required the use of expensive ingredients and complicated dyeing techniques, which significantly increased the cost of colored fabrics. It was not until the late 19th century that synthetic dyes started to appear on the market – cheap in production and available to everyone. Today the production of threads in any color is not the slightest problem, what is more, it does not significantly affect the cost of yarn production.
