Darłowo is a coastal town in the north-western part of Poland. The town is divided into two parts: touristic Darłówko and Racisław. Darłowo is also divided by the river Wieprza, which flows into the Baltic Sea here. Darłówko East is situated on one side of the port canal, whereas Darłówko West on the other. The two parts are spanned by the retractable bridge with a characteristic blue and white control tower, which is commonly called “UFO”. The construction was built in 1988. Prior to that time the 17th-century drawbridge served the same function in that very place.
