The economy of Morocco is developing in a dynamic way and is of farming-industrial characteristics. On a significant area of the country a traditional model of economy is prevalent, it is based on various branches of farming: growing cereals, keeping livestock and fishing. Fishing is one of the pillars of Moroccan economy. The total of annual catches is estimated on 600 thousand tons. In the fishing sector small companies are in majority, their fishing is not done on a large fishing boats but on traditional boats, used mostly for catching sardines.
