There are abandoned houses in almost every town. They have been left for various reasons and most of them have fallen into ruin. However, it is even more surprising that there are also whole towns that are depopulated. Pripyat in Ukraine is an example of such a town and it has been uninhabited since 1986 due to the explosion of a nuclear reactor in Chernobyl. Another example of such a town is Kayaköy in Turkey, which was abandoned by inhabitants of Greek origin after the Greek-Turkish war in the 1920’s.
