Santa Margherita Ligure is a town located on the eastern coast of the Ligurian Sea, situated in a picturesque area between the sea and mountains. In the past it used to be a farming village. People living there made their living as fishermen and farmers growing olive trees that overgrow the nearby hills until today. At present Santa Margherita Ligure is one of the most expensive resorts of the Italian Riviera. The local port is the place where fishing boats are moored, but next to them there are luxurious yachts and sports boat. Nevertheless, the regional authorities have preserved historic nature of the town. Villas and hotels are built on the hills surrounding the town, whereas the town’s center is still the place where tourists may enjoy the atmosphere of a small Italian town with cobbled streets and cascade housing.
