Sinaia is a small Romanian town in Prahova County. The sixteenth-century Orthodox monastery is one of the most recognizable buildings located there. Originally, there was supposed to be a modest hermitage, modeled on the monastery of St. Catherine on Mount Sinai, but later it gradually expanded. In the nineteenth century a second church representing the Byzantine style, the so-called Great Church, was built in this place. There are also a museum and library in the monastery.
