Castle in Hradčany is a former residence of the Czech kings, at present it is one of the most popular tourist attraction of the Czech capital. The origins of the castle date back to 9th century, when the hill over the Vltava River was stocked with everything necessary for the duke's residence. Throughout centuries the castle was modified and reconstructed many times. The most important reconstructions took place in 16th and 18th centuries. Today the castle is considered to be an example of eclectic architecture. Dominating styles in the castle’s architecture are the Baroque, Renaissance and Rococo.
