Franconia is a green historical region in Germany, located in the north of Bavaria. Near the Czech border there is the Franconian Forest mountain range, extending between the Thuringian Forest and the Fichtel Mountains. The surroundings are indeed densely forested. Over time, primary clusters of firs and beeches replaced vast tracts of spruce forests. The natural resources of the mountain range surroundings, including wooded areas and meadows located in the mountain valleys, are protected by the Franconian Forest Nature Park. This is an ideal place for hiking and cycling.
