Red Deer is the most popular representative of the Cervidae family. It inhabits Europe, Asia, North Africa, South America, Australia and New Zealand. The environment for numerous subspecies of red deer are above all forests (low-lying and mountainous mixed forests). The size of deer reaches up to 2.5 m, and their weight - up to 500 kg. Red deer have characteristic large antlers, which they cast during winter (antlers grow back in spring). Most of the subspecies of red deer are protected seasonally or all year round.
