The name of a chocolate box is given to a set of candies or chocolates in a decorative, cardboard or tin container. However, in the past such a name was given only to describe a box where the sweets were. The name “box of chocolates” (French - bonbonnière) dates back to 17th century. It originated from the exclamation “bon! bon!” (French - good! good!), by which the children of French aristocrats were expressing their admiration during tasting the chocolate delicacies.
