Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most famous bridges in the world and the San Francisco icon. The bridge designed by Joseph Strauss was put into use in 1937. The dark orange color of the structure makes it possible to see it even in thick fog. The bridge has survived many earthquakes and has been an important landmark in pop culture for 80 years. Unfortunately, the Golden Gate has also a bad reputation. Most probably, about 1500 people committed suicide by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge to the waters of the bay.
