Florida is located in the south-east of the United States. It is where the city of Coral Gables lies, in which Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden can be found. The garden has an extensive collection of rare tropical plants, including palms, cycads and flowers of unusual colors and shapes. The park was opened to the public in 1936 and it serves several functions today – it is not only a garden and museum, which are available for visitors, but it is also a scientific center and laboratory. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is actively involved in protecting endangered plant species as well as in educational work. The garden supports young artists too as numerous cultural events such as festivals, concerts, art exhibitions take place on its grounds.
