The Triglav National Park lies in the Julian Alps in Slovenia and was founded in 1924. Mount Triglav, rising 2,864m above sea level, stands almost in the middle of the national park, there are aslo numerous glacial lakes. Unusual rock formations, waterfalls and picturesque gorges make the Triglav National Park very popular among tourists. The Vintgar Gorge, lake Bled and the valley of Vrata, through which the Triglavska Bistrica flows, are the biggest tourist attractions. The park offers visitors many breathtaking scenic hiking routes.
