Balaklava is a part of Sevastopol and it lies in the south of the Crimean peninsula on one of the harbors of the Black Sea. Its location along the coastline was decisive for the military allocation of this area during the Cold War. However, after the fall of the USSR the area was demilitarized and became an attractive seaside resort. Today the harbor is the place where the yachts of the wealthy Ukrainians and Russians are moored. They frequently visit the Crimea during the holidays. Many of them have summer residences and yachts here. They sail these yacht on the warm waters of the Black Sea.
