Indianapolis is a large American city and the capital of the US state of Indiana. The most important state offices are located in Indianapolis's. An impressive building, which was opened in 1888, is the seat of Indiana authorities, including the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court. The historic Capitol was built mostly of limestone and oak elements and the building itself has the shape of a cross. The rotunda with an impressive dome that is situated in the center connects the four wings of the building. The Capitol can be visited with a guide. In front of the building there is a statue of Oliver P. Morton – the governor of Indiana during the American Civil War.
