The building of the Houses of Parliament in London, which is also known as the Westminster Palace, was build at the place where the palace of Edward the Confessor from the 11th century once stood. The edifice, which is admired nowadays, is the masterpiece of architects of the 19th century. The Big Ben and the Victoria Tower, on top of which there is a national flag flying when the Parliament is at session, are the two Westminster towers that are commonly known. The British Parliament is made accessible for visitors, however it is not easy to access there, as the queues are very long.
