Description: Wingspan approx. 6 cm. On the front pair of black wings there is a red, slanting band, and on the back - a red edge strip. The underside of the wings has a brownish-yellow pattern which allows the butterfly to disguise itself well. <br />

Distribution: Palearctic and North America. In Poland, it performs from May to October. Prefers open spaces, such as gardens, orchards, forest edges and parks. <br />
