The so called James Bond Island in the Thai language is called Khao Phing Kan, which means “hills bowing to one another”. In 1974 this place was a setting of one of the English films depicting a secret service agent titled The Man with the Golden Gun. Since that time the island has been called like that, especially in the guidebooks aimed at western tourists. According to the local legend, the island was created from a nail thrown to the sea by a displeased fisherman.
