The state of Alaska is currently the enclave belonging to the United States. Prior to 1867 it belonged to Russia. There are about 100 thousand glaciers in Alaska. These are large floating blocks of ice that are made of compressed snow. Their formation is easier due to a cold climate and the Alaskan mountainous topography. The town of Hyder is located in eastern Alaska, it borders British Columbia – the Canadian province. It is the place where the impressive Salmon Glacier is located. Its melted waters feed the Salmon River that crossed the Canada-USA border.
