Maltatal in Carinthia is a vast valley carved by a glacier, full of waterfalls, streams and icefalls (frozen waterfalls). The river Malta flows through the valley. The place is situated within the boundaries of the High Tauern National Park in the Austrian Alps and it attracts those who love beautiful views as well as people who enjoy various sports – trekking, mountain cycling and ski touring. The Maltatal Valley, due to the presence of vertical surfaces covered with ice, is the area where ice climbers can practice. It is worth visiting the High Tauern in summer.
