Zion National Park is located in the south-western part of the American state of Utah. The park owes its name to the Mormons, who gave the name Zion to the canyon situated here. Tourists may admire amazing red sandstone formations as well as rivers (e.g. the Virgin River), hanging gardens and waterfalls. Tourists also visit campsites in the park, take part in climbing and horse riding. The Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, known also as the Floor of the Valley Road, cuts through the park and visitors may admire the breathtaking rock formations of the canyon without getting off the car. National Geographic considers the Zion Canyon as the fifth most beautiful tourist trail in the United States.
