A picturesque historical region called Brittany is located on the Atlantic Ocean. It occupies the area of the French Breton peninsula in the west of the country, which was originally inhabited by the Britons, i.e. one of the Celtic tribes. Brittany is distinguished by its unusual landscape, which consists of rocky cliffs and sandy beaches. Currently this upland region still is strongly dependent on agriculture and fishery, it also has distinct culture that combines the Anglo-Saxon and Roman influences. Rennes is the capital of the region.
