Cats usually do not like water and they take care of hygiene by licking their fur systematically. Saliva not only removes bacteria, dust and extraneous smells, but also creates a protective film on the fur, which allows the cat to maintain a constant body temperature. In spite of this, there are situations in which a pet should be bathed because it is not able to cope with dirt caused, for example, by contact with a sticky or highly dusty substance. Washing the cat should be quite quick but careful so as not to expose the animal to unnecessary stress. It is best to wrap a wet pet in a towel that absorbs excess water from the fur and prevents it from getting cold.
