Banknotes can be divided into current ones, which are used as a standard legal tender, as well as collectors’, limited and specially edited ones. The collector’s banknotes are a legal tender as well, however, their value exceeds their face value. For example: to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the pope John Paul II pontificate the National Bank of Poland issued the first Polish collector's banknote with the image of the Polish Pope at the face-value of 50 PLN. This banknote cost twice as much.
