Chichicastenango is a town located in Guatemala and it is strongly connected with the Mayan culture. Tourists who visit the town quite often visit also the local market, which is open twice a week – on Thursdays and Sundays. The market offers original souvenirs, which are made by the local people. Apart from items of everyday use, groceries and stock, visitors can also find there colorful blankets, shawls and elements of outfits that are associated with the traditional Mayan patterns.
