The chalice-shaped baptismal font was made of bronze. It is 115 cm high and covered with numerous bas-reliefs. The bowl is supported by eight lying lions, on whose backs rest an octagonal nodus. It presents eight Old Testament prophets announcing the coming of the Savior. The octagonal bowl was also divided into fields with reliefs of scenes: the Wedding of Mary, the Annunciation, the Visitation, Christmas, the Adoration of the Magi, the Presentation in the temple, the Baptism of Christ, Christ and Mary in majesty. The whole thing was topped with double and triple Gothic arcades. The bowl is surrounded by an inscription in German: "After the birth of our Lord in 1387, the baptismal font was made by Master Bernhuser for the parson John of Dumlingburg and the mayor Gerard."
