Makarska is located in the south-eastern part of Croatia, on the Adriatic Sea. The residents of the city make their living from fishing as well as growing grapes and olives, however, quite a big number of citizens make their living from tourism. There are many tourists visiting that part of Dalmatia – they have at their disposal not only two promenades with rows of bulky palms, a long stony beach and yacht port but also countless guesthouses, cafes, restaurants, clubs and boutiques. Water sports as well as rides on board of fishing and motor boats are very popular in the resort. Makarska is the city in which it is also worth seeing the lighthouse, Franciscan monastery and the cathedral of Saint Mark with a red, pointed tower.
