Gdańsk is located in northern Poland on the Motława River, which flows here into the Baltic Sea. The river flows through the most elegant district of Gdańsk, i.e. its bustling downtown. Water trams and tiny "taxis" for tourists run along the Long and Fisherman’s Embankments. A crowded promenade is also the place where galleon-style cruise ships are moored. White Onyx passenger ship is one of the most recognizable floating objects. It used to be a catamaran and traveled the Black Sea, then it belonged to the German shipowner and later carried passengers in distant Africa. Since 2007 it belongs to Żegluga Gdańska (Gdańsk Seafaring).
