Gdańsk is the capital of Pomerania Province. There is a modern marina situated in the center of the city that is located on the Baltic coast. Gdańsk marina is located on the New Motława River, in the immediate neighborhood of the most important historic sites of the city, such as the port crane called Żuraw built in 1444 or the Gothic church of St. John. Yachts and motor boats moored on the Motława River can be observed from the bustling pedestrian area. 290-meter marina was opened for use in 1997, for the celebration of the millennium of the city.
