Segovia – the town that is over 2000 years old is located north-west of Madrid in the autonomous region of Castile and Leon. The town is situated at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains at the height of 1000 meters above the sea level. A visitor can find here historic monuments from the Middle Ages (e.g. Alcazar fortress, Romanesque churches or a Gothic cathedral) as well as from the ancient times (large Roman aqueduct). The Celts were the first people who inhabited the area of the town, whereas the influence of the Oriental world from the later period can be seen in such a place as the Arabic market called Plaza del Azoguejo.
