Boston Public Gardens are located in the very heart of this city that is inhabited by over six hundred thousand citizens. It was founded as early as in the first half of the 19th century as the first botanical garden in the United States. Apart from numerous species of plants the garden is also attractive due to architectonic monuments. The bridge across the local pond was opened in 1867. In the past it used to be a significant element of the infrastructure, making it possible to shorten the way to the other side of the pond. Today it may be only defined as an element of the garden’s decoration.
