Ljubljana is the capital and the largest city of Slovenia. Its history dates back to pre-historic times and the first written records concerning the city come from the Early Middle Ages. There was a big earthquake in Ljubljana in 1511 which destroyed the city and it had to be rebuild from the bottom up. Due to that fact, the old town was built in accordance with Renaissance architecture and it is difficult to find any traces of four-thousand-year history of that place. However, thanks to architectonic consistency Ljubljana is one of the most beautiful European capitals. It is frequently chosen as a tourist destination as the city is not much crowded and is much cozier than e.g. Paris or Berlin.
