Salzburg is the federal state with the capital of the same name. The city on the river Salzach is frequently visited by the winter sports lovers, due to the location at the northern rim of the Alps. The Old Town in Salzburg was listed as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are numerous churches, the Palace of Archbishops of Salzburg, Saint Peter’s Abbey and Nonnberg Abbey, both of them with characteristic domes. Getreidegasse is the main street of the historic centre of Salzburg and known for the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The medieval Festung Hohensalzburg towers over the city. In Salzburg there is also Café Tomaselli, the oldest cafe in Western Europe.
