Delphi is an ancient Greek city. The Doric temple of Apollo from the 6th century BC was the central part of the city. The city was famous for priestess Pythia, who was commonly known as the Oracle of Delphi. Today Dephi is known for archeological excavations around the complex of ruins, but the present-day city with offices, shops, hotels as well as educational and cultural centers is located nearby. Marmaria, Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia who guarded the temple, is one of the tourist attractions of Delphi. The round structure of the Tholos temple from the 6th century BC is the most characteristic element of Marmaria. There are still three Doric columns with fragments of horizontal entablature. Until now, there is no evidence concerning the use of the round structure of the Tholos.
