Croatia is the country located in the south-east of Europe, with one of the world’s most unique irregular and rugged coastline. There are numerous islands along the coastline, which are situated perpendicularly to the line of the continent. Such a type of coastline is often referred to as the Dalmatian coastline and its name derives from the name of the Croatian region called Dalmatia. This unique region attracts large numbers of tourists, who are even more numerous after Croatia joined the European Union in 2013. There are attractions for all kinds of tourists – nature lovers may visit one of the eight national parks, history fans may explore traces of ancient civilizations and those who enjoy active rest may do water sports or hike in the mountains.
