Hartford is an American city located on the Connecticut river. It is the seat of many insurance companies and an important industrial center. Together with the city of Springfield that lies nearby, Hartford forms a metropolis called "the Knowledge Corridor". The name refers to the impressive number of universities located here. The city center can be reached by the 358-meter Founders Bridge. Right next to the bridge there is the Mortensen Riverfront Plaza with its distinctive turf-covered terraces and a stage under a white tent, where concerts, festivals and other cultural events are held. The Travelers Tower towers above other buildings in the center of Hartford.
