A small town of Vernazza is located in the Italian region of Liguria, in the province of La Spezia. It forms part of the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage of the Cinque Terre. Vernazza is an important tourist center of the Ligurian Riviera, however, its inhabitants make their living out of fishing, cultivation of olives and vines as well. A small market in the town is surrounded by restaurants where visitors may taste local wine. The town literally cuts into the surface of the sea as it has a natural rocky pier. Vernazza is dominated by the ruins of a castle.
