Bechyně is a small town in the south-west of Czech Republic. The town is famous for a spa and the center of traditional pottery making, but is also known for its magnificent medieval old town, which has been on the list of the most valuable urban monuments the Czech Republic since 1990. The old town is dominated by a great 13th-century castle built on a rock above the river Lužnice, by which a water mill was built. The mill used to provide flour for the castle and the inhabitants of the town, but today it is one of the most interesting historic sites, which houses a guest house.
