Ghent is a Belgian city located in Flanders. It has rich merchant traditions dating back to the 11th century. The two historic streets – Korenlei and Graslei – are located in the center of the city. The river Leie, which was used in the Middle Ages to transport various goods from the port to warehouses, flows between the two streets. Today the historic guild houses with their stepped gables as used as hotels, bars, shops and restaurants, and the banks of the canal pulsate with night life. Tourists are also attracted by an eclectic building of the Old Post Office, built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and a slender clock tower dominating the houses.
