Porto is located on the Atlantic Ocean in the north of sunny Portugal. The history of the city dates back to the 5th century, originally there was a Celtic settlement. The center of Porto is situated on the hill called Penaventosa on the Douro River. The city is full of historic monuments and there is a well-preserved medieval quarter, which used to be walled in the past.
