Suzdal is an old Russian town situated on the river Kamenka. The town is almost a thousand years old, however, there are no large industrial plants and high-rise buildings. Its old town abundant in invaluable monuments is the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Suzdal lies on the tourist trail called the Golden Ring of Russia. The local Kremlin includes late-medieval monasteries and Orthodox churches characterized by unique architecture. The Holy Gate is one of the landmarks of the town, it consists of double arched gates in the defensive walls with the towers crowned with distinctive spires. Prince Vasilii III was one of the founders of the large monastery complex.
